SIX PACK SHORTCUTS Review - My Review of Mike Chang's Workout



First of all thank you for visiting my six pack shortcuts review site. Unlike a lot of six pack shortcut reviews out there, this is an in depth look at the six pack shortcuts programme.  After reading this six pack shortcut review you should be able to decide whether this workout is right for you.

A bit about me

I stumbled across the Six Pack Shortcuts workout programme when i was searching for new workout inspiration. Although i have made relatively positive progress in fitness and building muscle i needed something fresh. I had become tired of the isolation machines, and mundane treadmill running.

I am 31 years old. Having a new born baby, i had little time to go to the gym so my workouts needed to be explosive and time efficient. Being a 1st dan judo black belt i wanted to maintain/improve fitness and strength but was conscious that i had less time to do this in. The Mike Chang six pack shortcuts workout seemed the perfect answer.  I also do some judo specific exercises.

Six pack shortcuts review: a brief synopsis


Six pack Shortcuts is a fully comprehensive guide to losing weight and building muscle.
Mike Chang the creator of this programme is a ISSA Certified Personal Trainer. The programme contains a variety of simple exercises which can be performed on a daily basis targeting specific muscles in the body.  As the 'six pack' title suggests, there are also ab specific exercises which can be carried out once a flat stomach has been achieved.

The six pack shortcuts programme is by no means a quick fix and will require hard work and dedication as you work through a 12 week programme, five days a week.   Sorry guys, it’s not really a short cut. The Six Pack Shortcuts course is structured in a way that is easy to follow, but most importantly, teaches you to understand the reasons why you will get your six pack abs.

My detailed six pack shortcuts review

On access to the Six Pack Shortcuts Membership Area you are presented with a motivational and accountability introduction from Mike and his good friend Dan.  They also outline the afterburn effect which you will experience with the programme.



The SPS workout phases are clearly split into four phases.  Each phase is based on five workouts a week for a period of four weeks, before you are ready to advance to the next stage.  Two rest days are catered for, however, there is the option of one if you are in the zone.

The six pack shortcuts videos are of good quality and are predominantly filmed at Mike’s home gym.  They can be viewed online or easily downloaded onto your computer.  It really is like having your own personal trainer in the home, for a fraction of the cost.  Mike Chang really is a great motivator. This serves to improve technique quickly, and make the workout a much more enjoyable experience. Elements of the workouts are also filmed at the gym.  However, if you are not a gym goer like me, don’t worry.  You can successfully do the six pack shortcuts workouts with the following equipment:
Pull up bar; bench; dumbbells; barbell.  I have a wall mounted pull up bar attached to my house.

The great thing about the six pack shortcuts workouts are the substitution exercises available to complete the six pack shortcuts programme.  These can be used if some exercises don’t suit, or you don’t have all the equipment.
Each workout is accompanied by a pdf document to supplement the video tutorials.
Mike shows how to get your workout done in less than an hour and actually produce better results than following longer more traditional workouts. Spending more than an hour at the gym can cause a reduction in testosterone levels and muscle tissue breakdown. Short and intense full-body workout is the key for muscular development.

27 workouts are included in the six pack shortcuts programme to get you into shape fast. These workouts are short (only 20-30 minutes each), but very INTENSE. Trust me they are very effective, which you will soon find out for yourself.

Killer bodyweight exercises and high-intensity cardio 
There are 31 different bodyweight exercises in the program, which can be done at home with no equipment (my favourite!). Some of these bodyweight exercises are EXCELLENT for building muscle mass and strength (even better than exercises requiring complex gym equipment!). The purpose of these exercises is for rapid fat loss, and to build athleticism and functional strength.

These bodyweight exercises will help you to develop better sports performance, or to just be stronger and have more endurance when doing everyday tasks.  It has certainly helped with my judo training.

17 awesome ab exercises to define your core - There is more to getting abs than just doing ab exercises. You'll need to lose your belly fat before your ab muscle will be visible. But once you have lost this fat using the total body exercises the program, direct ab exercises will really help you define your core.

Phase 1 – This phase is all about building metabolism through a total body workout exercise routine.

Phase 2 – This phase is about burning body fat and putting on quality muscle in the right places.

Phase 3 – Shocks your muscles into accelerated growth with some heavier lifting.  Fewer exercise but many more sets.

I particularly like the integration of cardio elements with the weight training.  These include mountain climbers, dynamic push ups, and squats along with specific ab exercises to really get the heart rate up.  My favourite weight lifting exercises of the program were the pull ups, clean and press, deadlifts and skull crushers to name just a few!!

The short rests, supersets and trisets really allow for an effective intense workout, which will enable you to achieve great results without living down the gym.  Instructions are both clear and concise on form and technique.

I purchased the Six Pack Shortcuts program and I can say that I am not disappointed.  Yes there are some great free videos on You Tube by Mike which i experimented with first. This is a great starting point.  However, without the programme i lacked direction and focus which i now have by following the program.

The structure and simplicity of the programme are its key strengths, as you are spoon fed through this entire intense course.

If you stick with the six pack shortcuts programme and eating plan, i am confident you will achieve very positive results like myself in terms of muscle gain, strength and definition.

I know that there is a lot of competition on the market in terms of home workout programmes, however six pack shortcuts has been my favourite to date.  I found INSANITY too cardio base. Despite thoroughly enjoying this programme i did miss the weight lifting element.
